SUMMARY:GDA event with children's author John Dougherty and Ziggy the Poet
DESCRIPTION:Awards ceremony for Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association’s writing competition\, with children’s writer John Dougherty and Ziggy the Poet.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nJoin children’s author and poet John Dougherty and Gloucestershire’s Poet Laureate\, Ziggy the Poet\, who is himself dyslexic\, to celebrate the writings of young people who sometimes struggle to navigate the world of words. Discover the children’s triumphs\, who has helped them\, and what it feels like to be dyslexic. \nThere are two categories – primary and secondary school children. To enter compose up to 12 lines of poetry or up to 500 words on the theme of Dyslexia and Me for the competition run by the Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association. \nSend entries to: gdawritingcomp@gmail.com by the deadline of midnight Thurday April 14th. The work can be dictated to a parent\, carer or friend and is judged on humour\, storytelling\, emotion\, and writing strengths\, not spelling or grammar. Those entering must have dyslexia or dyslexic tendencies. If it’s easier\, a video can be sent – up to 30 seconds. \n\n\nWe are asking for donations on the door for the Gloucestershire Dyslexia Association\, a charity that has been helping children in the county to read and write since 1971. We also offer a discretionary bursary scheme for assessements.
